Pinot Noir Duband Cotes de Nuits


Many people have food allergies and our friend Carlo is one of them. Flour being the strongest and most difficult of his many, eating out can turn into a chore. But he's not the only one, many people are now discovering that they too have allergies to foods, or just can't digest certain things; and because of this new restaurants are springing up, stating that they make all natural foods.
One of these restaurants is in Treviso and is called 'La Vera Terra' and is really quite good. Pastas are made with 'alternative' cereals like corn, barley and soy, and they use cous cous and whole grain rices. All the bread is home made and served with biological olive oil and a sweetened mixed grain topping. The house brings out an appetizer of freshly made hummus and then its onto the menu. La Vera Terra does not serve meat, but does have a wide range of fish dishes. I started out with a flan-like spinach tort with a fondued fontina cheese poured over it. My entree was stuffed calamari with roasted potatoes. Other dinners on our table were Paella, pasta with a moscardini sauce (this was my favorite) and asparagus salad. Throughout the dinner we enjoyed a really nice and flavorful, but not overpowering since we were eating fish, pinot noir from france. (Duband Cotes de Nuits, 2005 Burgandy) Velvety, silky and well balanced, it actually paired nicely with with the food which did have a bit of spice to it. Complex and intense, full but not overbearing, full of cherry, nutty and woodsy notes it was well- french, and its hard for them to do wrong. With a long list of homemade deserts, I opted for a fruit salad since I couldn't fit anything else in my stomach- and it was probably one of the best I've ever had... Not sure if it was the fresh fruit or whiskey that really made this dish, but it was amazing. If your in Treviso ever... check this place out.

Molte persone hanno delle allergie e il nostro amico Carlo è uno di queste; la farina è una delle peggiori e un'uscita per un pranzo o per una cena può davvero preoccupare chi ha purtroppo questo problema. Chiaramente il nostro amico non è l'unico a soffrire di queste patologie quindi
delle ricerche che hanno portato l'uomo ad ingegnarsi e ora esistono dei ristoranti che fano al caso nostro.
Uno di questi è a Treviso e si chiama La Vera Terra ed è veramente ottimo. Quì la pasta è fatta con ingredienti "alternativi" come il farro, la soia, l'orzo ed usano cous cous e riso integrale.
Il pane è fatto in casa ed è servito con olio extra vergine di oliva biologico e con dei semi di girasole e miglio.
Offerto dalla casa c'era del humus fresco fatto di piselli e ceci, molto interessante. La Vera Terra non serve carne ma ha un'ampia varietà di scelte di pesce.
Ho iniziato con un flan di spinaci con top di formaggio sciolto di Fontina, per passare poi a dei calamari ripieni e patate arroste. Altre scelte in tavola erano insalata di asparaghi, la "paella" eslusivamente di pesce e un piatto di pasta con moscardini (il mio preferito).
Abbiamo abbinato a queste gustose delizie un grande Pinot Nero della Borgogna Duband vendemmia 2005 della Cotes de Nuits. Vellutato, setoso e ben bilanciato si incontrava bene con il cibo che era leggermente speziato. Intenso e complesso ma mai supponente e carico, nel bouquet c'erano ciliega sotto spirito, note di mandorla e di vaniglia .In bocca la sua intensità e persistenza erano straordinarie, ragazzi made in France.
Da una lunga lista di dessert, io ho optato per un splendida macedona di frutta, probabilmente la migliore che abbia mai mangiato, in quanto non c'era più spazio nel mio stomaco.
Se sei a Treviso non farti perdere l'occasione e visita questo posto.
