Sauvignon Blanc Oyster Bay 2006

Here in New York, you can find all types of bottles from all over the world. At our local wine shop in Astoria we picked up two: a Cannonao and a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand. New Zealand is best known for its crisp SB's thanks to the cool year round weather. And, to add a bit of unknown information, Australia and NZ have put a new 'law' into affect asking wine producers to use plastic or glass corks instead of real cork due to high costs and possible extinction. The wine itself was a straw yellow and the perfume was your classic SB; grassy, vegetal, oregano, sage, white flowers, mainly from the wild and a touch of salt. On the palatte it was dry with medium softness and warm. The freshness and minerality fell after it was open a bit, while the intensity and persistance remained but with a bit of bitterness. For $10 the quality was worth the price and would be great with sushi or like food items.

Qui a New York è facile trovare bottiglie da tutto il mondo. Una sera vicino a casa abbiamo comperato una bottiglia di Sauvignon Blanc Oysterbay della zona di Marlborough nella Nuova Zelanda. Io sono un patito per i Suvignon Blanc in tutte le sue varianti. Beh tanto per cominciare il tappo era a vite molto comune per i vini australiani e neozelandesi ;Il colore è un giallo paglierino acceso;la fragranza è quella classica del sauvignon: l'erbaceo di erba appena tagliata forse un po' macerata al sole, delle rimembranze di origano, fiori freschi bianchi e una nota minerale di sale . Al palato è secco abbastanza morbido, caldo . E' fresco e sapido ma cala vistosamente di intensità e persistenza chiudendo con un finale amarognolo che ricorda più un Tocai Friulano. Un vino che costa sui 10$. Da abbinare a qualche pietanza di Sushi non molto profumata.
