Montirosso Bepin De Eto '06

New night, new wine! And I must say this time we were really pleasantly surprised. The area around Treviso in the Veneto region of Italy is known mainly for being next to the prosecco region, but as we've discovered there are many other reasons to come to these vineyards; for example this Novello by Montirosso di Bepin de Eto, alcohol 11,5%. At first sight and smell, it was obvious that it was a young wine, with a strong floreal, alcoholic and mineral smell as well as a good consistency in the glass. We thought it was just going to be another very alcoholic cheap wine- wrong. This slightly fizzy, fresh and velvety red wine made me want to pour another glass! Dark red and purple fruits like plums and strawberrys filled my mind and had me wishing that it was summer and not cold outside! This wine should be chilled slightly before drinking and would probably go quite well with a fish- thats right I said fish- in a creamy or buttery sauce; or even tortellini or ravioli in a butter/sage sauce.
Our vote this time is probably higher then what most sommeliers would agree to, but for the price and for refreshing smile it brought it:

Nuova serata nuovo vino, questa volta un nettare della zona dei Colli Trevigiani ad Indicazione Geogrfica Tipica, stiamo parlando del Montirosso di Bepin de Eto dal titolo alcolometrico di 11,5%, consigliata dal produttore la temperatura di servizio 10-12 °c .
Strana per un vino rosso ma adeguata per questa tipologia in quanto il vino è giovane e va bevuto nella sua giovinezza e una leggera e piacevole presenza carbonica la giustifica.
Bene, il colore è un bel rubino che ha però la sua trasparenza, la buona consistenza dimostra più una presenza di glicerina che di alcool.
Il profumo si apre con una nota di fragola per passare al melograno e per arrivare ad una prugna sotto spirito; una chiusura leggera di minerale da una rotondità al bouquet.
Il sapore secco e morbido conferma l'intensità del frutto rosso e la morbidezza della glicerina, il solletico lasciato dall'anidride carbonica accompagna il tannino e un leggero amaro rimane in fondo alla lingua ma non dispiace affatto.
Il prezzo è contenuto e la qualità è presente quindi
