Pinot Nero Wachturm '05

Obviously not all wines are 'important,' but many are great for the price. For example we opened this bottle of Pinot Nero by Wachturm (or Blauburgunder in German) created in the Alto Adige region of Italy, the other night with a couple of friends. Although the label read 12.5% alcohol I could have sworn it was higher. The ruby red color and nice bouquet were a good start but the alcohol overpowered most of the fruity taste, and is what was mainly the aftertaste left in your mouth. however, it is a pretty easy drink. Pairing this wine with a stronger, soft cheese like brie or blue cheese or salumi would help bring out the flavors that this wine really has to offer.

Voto 74/100
